It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

So Gather the Family for a Holiday Festival Like No Other

The Orchard Town Center Debuts “Ice Gardens” – the First ‘Hybrid Ice® Rink’
in the Denver Metro Area!

DENVER, November 7, 2008 --  It’s the most wonderful time of the year  and it’s a wonderful time to bring your family to The Orchard Town Center for holiday shopping, dining and entertainment!  To get the holiday season started, The Orchard Town Center is debuting its new eco-friendly, hybrid ice® rink, Ice Gardens, on November 15, 2008, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The Ice Gardens, in addition to The Orchard’s festive holiday decor and entertainment, creates an awesome winter wonderland for the entire family to enjoy.  As the first and only hybrid ice® rink in the Denver Metro area, the Ice Gardens will bring together the fun of ice skating while conserving resources, as there is no need for water, refrigeration units, or electricity.

So how does it work?  The hybrid ice® rink, made from a non-toxic, recyclable, polymer compound, is an eco-friendly, low-cost alternative to real ice. The product isn´t frozen and feels the same as room temperature.  A non-toxic enhancer is applied to the surface of the rink to facilitate a gliding action. The enhancer acts as a lubricant to help reduce the friction created by a skate blade. Heat created by the blade moving across the surface releases the lubricant to simulate a gliding action. The overall glide factor on synthetic ice is 10-15% slower than real ice, therefore accidents are minimal in comparison to refrigerated or real ice, making it a smart choice for the entire family, especially children!

The Orchard’s Holiday Festival and hybrid ice® rink will also be filled with holiday characters for guests young and old alike. There will be skating toy soldiers, ballerinas and elves, Santa and Mrs. Claus, face-painting elves and fairies, as well as balloon-making fairies, a polar bear, Candy the Bear, Frosty the Snowman, strolling Victorian Carolers, and an Elves Workshop.   The Jill Carr Band will also be performing a variety of music, including holiday favorites from
6-9 p.m.

Guests visiting the Ice Gardens will have the option of bringing their own skates (sharp blades required) or renting skates at the rink.  The Ice Gardens will be located on Town Center Drive at The Orchard Town Center in Westminster, off Hwy. 25 and 144th Avenue.  Rink hours are Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m. Rink hours will be extended beginning December 15.  For additional details including pricing and extended hours visit www.TheOrchardTownCenter.com.

The Orchard Town Center will continue to celebrate the holidays throughout November and December with the following events:
The North Pole Express, where children can ride the train with Santa every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.

WinterFest Wednesdays, free and open to the public, which will feature musical entertainment, strolling performers, crafts, prizes and giveaways, from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 19 through Dec. 17.
